Reviews are not as permanent as they look. Platforms edit, moderate, and sometimes silently remove them - and when a good review disappears, most companies never notice. Revly keeps a permanent record of every review it has ever seen, including the ones that vanish.
Edit history
Every time a sync runs, Revly compares each review against what it saw before. When something changes, it is recorded in the review's Edit History - expand any review on the Reviews page to see the timeline. Tracked changes include:
Review text updated
Title updated
Rating changed (a 2-star upgraded to a 4-star after your support saved the day, for example)
A developer response added or updated
The review being removed from - or reinstated on - the platform
Removed review detection
During its weekly full sweep of a channel, Revly notices when a review that used to be on your listing is no longer there. Instead of deleting it, Revly marks it Removed and keeps the full content - reviewer, rating, text, and the date the removal was detected.
Removed reviews are kept out of your day-to-day view: they are excluded from your average rating, your channel stats, and your embeds, and the Reviews page hides them by default. To see them, set the status filter to Removed. If Revly has Slack notifications connected, you will get an alert when removals are detected.
Why this matters
If a platform removes a legitimate review during a moderation sweep, the detection date and preserved content give you exactly what you need to appeal with the platform's support team. And if the platform reinstates the review, Revly flips it back to live automatically on the next sync.
Good to know
Removal detection currently runs on Shopify App Store channels, with more platforms on the way. Edit history is tracked on every platform.
Nothing is ever deleted from Revly - a removed review stays in your account permanently.
Filtering and the Reviews inbox are covered in Managing your reviews.
